Time To Get Serious

Training has been pretty good this winter, training for the half really made it fly by, and it gave me the motivation and self esteem to believe finally that I can do anything I set my mind to. It's still a bumpy road. But I am coming to understand that it's my choice, and mine alone. Maybe that's what turning 30 in twelve months time does to you. Do I want to be healthy fit, and close as possible to goal for part of my twenties? HELL YES!

My endurance is pretty good for my size, I can jog continually for long distance, and get into a good rhythm. I want to get faster, and I know to do this I need to drop my weight, and also go harder in my runs when I need to. My next half is in just over a month, and I have not been as anal about my training as I was last time, especially with speed work. It's time to do all my allocated training, otherwise I'm going to be peeved when I finish and I know I could have done better.

I need to find spring and summer events! I will continue with my running, and plan on doing at least one marathon in 2011. But I also want to get back into my swimming, save up for a bike and give a triathlon a good go. Because when I get to goal and can get half decent times, I really really want to do this.

I'm pretty sure campboot is back on in Spring, and I need to talk to my trainer about that. Truth be told, I don't really want to have that conversation again, incase i'm still too slow etc. I took it quite hard last year. He meant well, I know that! But yeah, kind of sucked!

It will be interesting when I have my next planning session with my trainer after the half. Because I'm pretty sure there will not be any half's for me to do until early next year, so goodness knows what he is thinking. But we've both worked out I like to event train, and that keeps me going!

Oh and if adidas or any other running shoe people want to send me some shoes, yeah that would be very very cool. Dead runners, budgeting and a half marathon so close is not very cool!

I still can't believe, 29. Sheesh!

I love bootcamp for overall fun and kickstart, but I reckon with your goals and your experience being fit it would be best for you to focus on the swimming, spinning (until you get that bike) and running with weights/yoga/whatever to complement it... That way you don't even have to worry about the awkward conversation :)
