Running Muesli

Another stunning Sunday here in Wellyville, there was sun - but it was still very very cold. But blue sky aplenty! Yesterday I rugged up and headed out for a 13km long run along the bays, it wasn't the best run. I had bought new running tights, and they were starting to slip once I hit the end of the street.I ran back home swapped them for my old ones, and then noticed my NEW ones had a hole in them...bad form PUMA, made worse by the lack of stitching on the seam, wtf! (I'm heading back to get a refund tomorrow). Saying that my old running tights are also by PUMA and are amazing.

The run also included two bathroom stops, and getting raced by young children along the beach, by which time I had lost my sense of humour - normally i would have found it amusing if I wasn't running at the pace of a snail. I ran to a friends house, which was good as I had miscounted to bays, and if I had headed home it would have been closer to 17km.

Today I slept in, and missed the trail run, oops. BUT I did head into town for brunch, then the market, and then vowed to do something about the excess amount of oats and made muesli. Then because I missed my trail run, I went on a 5km run, again not thinking that the way out it was all up hill, but let loose on the way back, and clocked in at 36:28 - It felt oh so good.

Back to the muesli, I looked at Phil's recipe and adapted it to what I had bought from the local organic store earlier this morning.

6 cups rolled oats
2 tsp nutmeg
2 tsp cinnamon
1.5 tbl LSA mix
1/2-3/4 cup of pepitas
2/3 cup raisins
6 dried figs chopped
3/4 cup of coconut

I've never made muesli before, it hardly took anytime - I don't know why I thought it would take longer, I tasted a spoonful - tasted good. Will be interesting to see how it goes tomorrow morning for breakfast!

I was wondering where you were today! It was lovely out in Belmont, but VERY cold. The short course had a 2k climb at the start - not so steep but just endless! From there it was a nice jog downhill again via a four wheel drive track and road, then onto an extremely steep, muddy track which could not be ran at all! The last stretch was fairly flat, along a stream which had to be sloshed through five times. At least it cleaned our shoes off! Hope you're going to be doing the night run in Wainui. Sounds like it's going to be fun!

Do you go to the waterfront market or the Willis St one? We quite often come into the waterfront one on a Sunday if we miss the Lower Hutt one on Saturday.

It is amazing how quick and easy it is to make these things when we finally try LOL, like the pesto I made! I need to kick myself and try the muesli too.

I have a pair of Lululemon running leggings that completely suck for running but then their other leggings and pants are unreal. Go figure. Refund for sure. I wish I took my running leggings back.
